A group of BHS LPP students took a trip to New York City, where they visited the iconic Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. As they stood in awe of the historical significance of these landmarks, the students took a moment to reflect on what Liberty truly meant to them.
With pen in hand, they jotted down their thoughts on postcards, expressing sentiments of harmony, justice, peace, prosperity, and rights. I was humbled and grateful that they chose to share their insightful reflections with me.
One student in particular, Nakiyah B., eloquently summed it up by saying, "Liberty means... living my life on my own terms."
Yes, Nakiyah! Thank you.
I am moved by our young people. This is my purpose.
